"We are proud to live in a nation whose land overflows with cultural and civilisational treasures. Among the most precious of these is our Arabic language, the crown jewel of our rich literary and linguistic heritage. A language through which light once spread from our region to all corners of the world.

Guided by our Saudi Vision 2030, and in response to today’s emerging cultural challenges and the rapid pace of global development, came the wise directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman - may God protect them both, to establish the King Salman Global Academy for the Arabic Language.

This Academy now serves as the official institution responsible for Arabic language affairs in the Kingdom. It leads national policy, oversees international cooperation, and pioneers forward-looking studies. It proposes strategic recommendations to address potential risks, and to seize cultural opportunities for the future.

It was on our land that the Arabic language was born. Here, its script was first created in the living form we know today. From this land, it travelled east and west, becoming the spoken language of a vast region. Unlike many other languages, Arabic has preserved its original script for over fifteen centuries and continues to do so today. Remarkably, this elegant script has also been used to write nearly 200 other languages, many of which still use it to this day.

The Kingdom’s cultural leadership gives us a historic responsibility: to preserve the language of the Qur’an, and to offer it to those who seek to learn it. Arabic is part of our country’s name. It is part of our identity. It is a voice that rises from deep within us, shaping our past, present, and future.

The Academy was founded to meet these responsibilities. To face the global challenges that languages encounter. To reaffirm our pride in who we are. And to present the Arabic language as a living, essential part of the identity we carry with pride.

Through this mission, Arabic and its literature will continue to build bridges — of communication, of fraternity, and of peace. It will remain a powerful tool for acquiring and advancing knowledge and science.

There is much work ahead. My colleagues and I are committed to carrying this responsibility, in collaboration with our Arab partners, and with everyone who shares our passion for the Arabic language.
