KSGAAL and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Celebrate World Arabic Language Day

King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language (KSGAAL) is collaborating with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to organize the World Arabic Language Day celebration for the second consecutive year. Under the auspices of His Highness Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture and KSGAAL’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees, the celebration will be held under the theme "Arabic – Language of Poetry and Arts." The event is part of KSGAAL’s efforts to organize a series of events and programs commemorating World Arabic Language Day within the Kingdom and abroad, including the prestigious international celebration at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.

Held at the OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah on January 14, 2024, the celebration will be inaugurated by the OIC Secretary-General, Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, alongside the Secretary-General of KSGAAL, Professor Abdullah bin Saleh Al Washmi, the Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the OIC, Dr. Saleh Bin Hamad Al Suhaibani, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Shaheen Abdulayev. The opening ceremony will also be attended by ambassadors and permanent representatives of OIC member states.

The World Arabic Language Day celebration at the OIC will feature two engaging dialogue sessions. The first session will delve into the topic of 'Arabic Poetry in Islamic Countries: Influence and Interaction,' while the second session will focus on 'Arabic Language Arts in the Islamic World.' These sessions will feature distinguished representatives from various organizations, including the OIC, KSGAAL, the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), and the Research Centre for Islamic History, Arts, and Culture (IRCICA).

One of the event's standout features is the captivating poetry sessions, which showcase timeless works from poets across the Islamic world. Attendees will have the privilege of experiencing eloquent readings from renowned poets such as Muhammad Ibrahim Muhammad Yaqub from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrudeen Abdullah from the Republic of Sudan, and Abdullah Muhammad Ubaid from the Republic of Yemen.

Additionally, the event will showcase an Arabic poetry exhibition featuring selected sonnets from "The Suspended Odes" or "The Hanging Poems" (Al-Mualaqaat Al ‘Ashr), along with a presentation of selected poems from the early Islamic and post-Islamic eras. Guests will also have the chance to learn about KSGAAL and its wide array of activities, programs, and initiatives.
