KSGAAL Launches ‘Energy Terminology Dictionary’ in Collaboration with the Ministry of Energy

The King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language (KSGAAL) is collaborating with the Ministry of Energy and its affiliates to introduce the Arabic 'Energy Terminology Dictionary.' The dictionary encompasses the most prevalent terms across all energy disciplines and serves as a vital resource for specialists and professionals in the energy sector.
KSGAAL Secretary-General Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi lauded the support of the Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud, in publishing the dictionary. He also highlighted the ongoing cooperation between KSGAAL and the Ministry of Energy in promoting the role of the Arabic language regionally and globally.
Dr. Al-Washmi emphasized that the dictionary encompasses the most widespread terms across different energy disciplines. Its goal is to establish a dependable reference for commonly utilized terminology in the sector, ensure consistency in Arabic content related to energy, and enhance the Arabic language with technical vocabulary. These goals align with the aims of the Human Capability Development Program, one of the Saudi Vision 2030 realization programs.
The first edition of the Energy Terminology Dictionary includes more than 1500 terms across eight categories: petroleum and gas, atomic and nuclear energy, sustainability, common abbreviations, electricity, renewable energy, measurement units, and names of entities and initiatives. The Saudi energy ecosystem comprises the following entities: King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy, the Water and Electricity Regulatory Authority, the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center, the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission, the Energy and Water Price Reforms Executive Committee, the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center, the National Committee for Clean Development Mechanism, the Ministerial Committee to Restructure the Electricity Sector, and the Saudi Electricity Company, along with the Oil Demand Sustainability Program.
The dictionary is poised to greatly assist researchers in the energy sector by offering a repository of key technical energy terms in Arabic alongside their English equivalents. Users will gain several advantages, including the seamless navigation of the interactive digital version, reliance on a trusted and endorsed source for terminology, and the convenience of alphabetical organization in both Arabic and English, encompassing all facets of the energy domain.
Through its initiatives, programs, and diverse projects, KSGAAL strives to preserve the integrity and identity of the Arabic language, support its spoken and written forms, and facilitate its teaching and learning within and outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
