Artificial Intelligence Center for Arabic Language Processing

The Computational Linguistics Sector seeks to establish a center concerned with research in the Arabic language using artificial intelligence techniques, through the development of scientific and research tools and computer applications that contribute to facilitating the handling of language by the computer, and the linguistic presence on computer platforms and applications. The center also aims to support researchers, experts and students in the field of computing the Arabic language through recruitment, partnerships, grants and others, to be an authority in its field of research, whether at the individual or organizational at level. The center provides a range of services for researchers, including: artificial intelligence tools in Arabic language processing, applications to help build and configure linguistic data, corpora, dictionaries, and various sources in the Arabic language.

Center Objectives:
1. Supporting Scientific Research: Accelerating the pace of scientific research and innovation in the field of automated processing of the Arabic language.
2. Production of Linguistic Tools and Data: The production of research and computer tools in the field of artificial intelligence, as well as linguistic sources, data and standards.
3.  A Stimulating Environment: Providing a distinguished research environment and an integrated infrastructure that contributes to attracting professors and graduate students in universities, research centers, the private sector and experts to complete their research at the center.
4. Incubation and Funding: incubating, financing, supporting and advising startups in the field of Arabic language processing.

A. Language Sources and Standards:
–      General and specialized language corpora (written, audio), representing various time periods and geographic regions.
–       General and specialized dictionaries.
–       Syntax tree of the language (Treebank).
–       Structure and governance of linguistic data.
–       Standards and models of Linguistic data labeling.
–       Language Modeling.
B. Computational Linguistics Tools: 
–       Morphological, grammatical and semantic analysis.
–       Auto summarization.
–       Arabic writing assistant.
–       Plagiarism detection tools.
–       Oral and written machine translation.
